The photos were shared through a secret Dropbox account, which reportedly contained hundreds of photos of women throughout all five branches of the armed forces. Vice describes the images as selfies or images taken by another party. They note that some images also appear to depict the servicewomen engaging in sexual activity.

Marine Corps officials have called on the Naval Criminal Investigative Service following revelations by Vice News last week that images of female service members had been shared in a Dropbox folder called "Hoes Hoin'. Vice reported that most of the images in the folder show women in military clothing. Some show the women's faces, dog tags, uniforms and name tags. A few are of service members fully clothed, in apparent attempt to shame or discredit them.
